30 to 60 minutes to understand the need and say yes or no.
Discovery is not a disguised sales call. In 45 minutes, we figure out whether your project makes sense, whether I am the right person, and what actually needs to be estimated. I ask direct questions about context, constraints, data, expectations. If I can see you are about to waste time or money, I say so. If it is not in my wheelhouse, I point you to someone more qualified. Either way you leave with a clear view of a possible scope and next steps, even if we never work together.
